The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) is an Indian National Law University in Shamirpet, Hyderabad, Telangana. It is a public law school and one of the first in the country to offer the five-year BA LLB (Hons.) programme. It was founded in 1998 by an act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislation. NALSAR University of Law Hyderabad is one of Telangana’s most modern and prestigious law schools. It is a self-governing and publicly sponsored leading legal studies institution. The institution provides undergraduate and postgraduate programme in legal studies, as well as postgraduate business administration programmes. In India, it is one of the autonomous law schools. Students must have passed the competitive exams for their respective programmes in order to be admitted to NALSAR University of Law. The university also offers postgraduate Business Administration programmes. An applicant must have a CLAT/ CAT/ CMAT/ XAT/ GMAT score in order to get admitted to NALSAR.

The university’s Directorate of Distant Education also provides distance learning courses.

NALSAR University of Law Directorate of Distance Education is a government-run organisation. BCI is in charge of it. This university offers almost 15 different courses.

It has also established collaborative research programmes with the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (Hyderabad), the Centre for Children, Laws, and Ethics (Cumberland Law School, University of Samford), the Centre for Disability Law and Policy (University of Ireland, Galway), and Landesa India. Since over two decades, the University has offered Master’s and PG Diploma programmes on developing and current subjects through its Directorate of Distance Education (NALSAR Proximate Education) to spread information and give possibilities for working professionals.

The programmes are designed to provide professional managers with realistic answers for their day-to-day work and decision-making processes. In addition to online help, the programmes provide personal contact classes with frontline academics, industry, and legal professionals. The course material and delivery are as rigorous as those of conventional programmes, and applicants are prepared for professional careers.

The reading materials for the courses were created by subject specialists, and great effort was taken to present them in a way that would maintain and improve the attention of non-law professionals. These courses are suitable for recent graduates as well as working professionals. The inputs cover the course’s detailed syllabi. The applicant must complement the information with their own readings from the internet or other sources. Only the PCP and exams will take place in Hyderabad.

Eligibility Criteria Of The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research

NALSAR University of Law admits students based on state/national level exams, which are followed by a counselling procedure.

1. Students must have a PG degree from a recognised university and have passed the Company Secretary Examination or the final Examination of the Institute of Charted Accountants of India, New Delhi, to be eligible for admission to the LLM – Ph.D. programme.
2. Students must have graduated from any recognised university with a minimum of 50 percent marks or comparable CGPA to be eligible for admission to an MBA programme. Students who are in the last year of the qualifying test are also eligible.
3. Students can apply for MBA programmes based on their NALSAR Management entrance test/CAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ C-MAT scores.
4. Students with a PG degree in a similar discipline can apply for admission to the Ph.D. programme via NET/ SET/ GMAT/ GPAT.
