NSU is also known as Rashtriya Sanskrit University. In Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha is a Deemed University. This university was founded in 1961 and is one of the world’s UGC-approved institutions The major goal of establishing this institution was to improve students’ understanding of the Sanskrit language. It is a well-known university with magnificent historical backgrounds. Traditional programmes in Jyotisha, Sahitya, Advaita Vedanta, Vyakarana, Vishistadvaita Vedanta,  Nyaya, Agama,  Dvaita Vedanta, Sankhya Yoga, Mimamsa, and other traditional disciplines are available, as well as modern subjects like as Computer Science etc. Professional programmes at the university, B.Ed. (Siksha Sastri) and M.Ed. (Siksha Acharya), are supervised by NCTE (the National Council for Teacher Education). Under other faculties, further programmes leading to Diploma, P.G.Diploma, and Research Degrees are also available.

Admission to both undergraduate and graduate programmes is based on a student’s merit, which is determined by their qualifying examination scores as well as a personal interview. The university administers several entrance exams for admission to B.Ed, M.Ed, and Ph.D programmes.

The Distance Educational Council IGNOU funds and recognises the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) in Tirupati (New Delhi). The goal of this institution is to provide continuous and higher education in sanskrit at a reduced cost. Under the DDE system, RSV provides Prak-Sastri (Pre-Degree Course/+2), B.A. (Sanskrit), Sastri (B.A), Acharya (M.A.), Jyotisha (Phalita), Sahitya, Prak-Sastri (Pre-Degree Course/+2), Acharya etc. Under the open university programme, students can pursue a Diploma Course in Sanskrit (1 year), a P.G.Diploma in Yoga Vijnan (1 year), and an Acharya (M.A.) OUS. This institution also offers educational opportunities to persons without a high school diploma or a high school diploma, as well as professional development opportunities to working people. To achieve the DDE’s objectives, it began to draw a large number of students from all over the nation, from diverse fields of study such as engineering, medicine, administration, and traditional sastra.

Admission Procedure of National Sanskrit University

The application forms are accessible on the University’s official website. The forms can be filed both online.

Steps to Apply online:

  • Go the official website of National Sanskrit University.
  • Click on the application form and fill out the Personal Details and other information.
  • Click Proceed to Pay to pay the registration fee online.
  • Click on the Submit button. Now, the registration process is complete.

Along with the completed application form, the following papers must be sent:

  • A copy of your degree or provisional certificate that has been attested.
  • A copy of the date of birth certificate that has been attested.
  • For DES – X class or similar certificate that includes the date of birth (attested copy)
  • Affixing a stamp-size photo to an Identity Card that has been fully filled out.
  • In the case of SC/ST applicants, an attestation copy of their caste certificate is required.
  • Receipt card that has been filled out and stamped.
  • Certificate from a Guru/Teacher who is instructing the candidate in the topic chosen in Sammanita Sastri/Acharya Certificate about ability to read and write Sanskrit

At the time of admission, all needed and original certifications must be submitted to the admissions office. Candidates should be asked to keep enough xerox copies of their credentials (at least ten) with them in case they require them later.

Q1. Does National Sanskrit University, Tirupati provides scholarship?

Ans. Various sorts of scholarships are awarded at this university. Students will be given the scholarship based on their percentage of marks and merit in the previous qualifying examination. The scholarship is only available for ten months every year, and it will only be approved at the start of the year. Furthermore, the state and federal governments offer a significant number of scholarships to students based on their performance in the previous qualifying test.

Q2. What are the eligibility criteria for Post Graduate Programme at NSU?

Ans. To enrol in a PG course, an applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject. From course to course, the minimum % needed varies. Admission to PG courses is dependent on a student’s merit, which is determined by their UG level test results as well as a personal interview. The M.A. programme at the university is divided into three specialisations, each lasting two years. It also provides M.Sc. (Master of Science) and MAM (Master of Advanced Management) degrees that last two years, with the exception of the PG Diploma, which lasts one year.

Q3. What is the qualifying criteria for B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes?

Ans. Aspirants must pass the Combined Shiksha Shastri Entrance Test in order to be admitted to the B.Ed programme (CSSET) and for M.Ed. Programme, Combined Shiksha Acharya Entrance Test (CSAET) is required. These programmes at the university, B.Ed. (Siksha Sastri) and M.Ed. (Siksha Acharya), are supervised by NCTE (the National Council for Teacher Education). The B.Ed. programme lasts two years, whereas the M.Ed. programme lasts one year.

Q4. Does National Sanskrit University offer M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses?

Ans. For those interested in research, University offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes. The M.Phil. programme at the university lasts one year, while the Ph.D. programme lasts two years. Candidates must pass the Combined Vidya Varidhi Entrance Test in order to be admitted to the Ph.D programme (CVVET). Candidates who have passed the Lectureship test/NET/ SLET/JRF, M.Phil. in Education/Sanskrit, and planning to pursue Ph.D. programme must also pass the CVVET.

Ans. For students who have passed their 10+2 test, NSU or Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha offers a choice of UG programmes in the disciplines of Arts and Science with a variety of specialisations. The UG courses are three years in length. Admission to these UG programmes is dependent on a student’s merit, which is determined by their 10+2 exam scores as well as a personal interview.
