Magadh University Overview

Magadh University is a higher education institution in Bihar, India. Satyendra Narayan Sinha, an educationist and the then-Education Minister of Bihar, founded Magadh University in 1962. The first vice-chancellor was K. K. Dutta, a well-known historian. The Bihar State University Act of 1976 presently governs the university. It offers higher education and research facilities in the faculties of science, social sciences, humanities, and commerce. Magadh University is Bihar’s largest university, with 19 constituent colleges, 22 postgraduate departments, and 39 associated colleges. Magadh University is NAAC certified and sanctioned by the UGC and AICTE. The institute provides courses at the UG, PG, and research levels. All courses are provided through several departments, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Commerce, Geography, Political Science, and others. Regular courses like as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Lib.Sc., and B.Voc. are available at the undergraduate level, as are professional programmes such as B.Ed., B.P.Ed., and LLB. To be eligible for these courses, students must have received a minimum of 50% in aggregate at the 10+2 level from a recognised board. Selection will be based on secured merit in the most recent qualifying examinations.

Magadh University was founded in 1962. The University offers a number of specialised institutions that provide full-time and distance learning courses. Magadh University’s Directorate of Distance Education was established for the benefit of students from South Asian nations who were unable to get admission as normal students. Magadh University’s Directorate of Distance Education is a Bihar’s government university is located at Bodh Gaya.  The UGC- Distance Education Bureau (DEB), the State Government of Bihar, and the Raj Bhawan have all recognised Magadh University’s Directorate of Distance Education. ‘NAAC’ accredited the institute with a ‘C’ grade. Bachelors of Education (B.Ed.), Master of Arts in Education, BLIS, MLIS, and PG programmes are available at the institute. Admission is granted based on prior test results, and for admission to Bachelors of Education (B.Ed.), the Directorate of Distance Education Magadh University holds an Entrance Examination.

Eligibility Criteria Of Magadh University

Applicants for undergraduate programmes must have a 10+2 with appropriate subjects from a recognised Board. Admission to UG and PG programmes will be awarded based on performance in the qualifying exams. The institution also provides a Ph.D. programme, and candidates are chosen based on their performance in the Pre-Ph.D. test. For admission to M.Ed., the University holds an M.Ed. Entrance Test; individuals seeking admission must register for the test after paying INR 1000.

A minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ ST) in Mathematics at the 10+2 or Bachelor’s degree level is required for admission to the MCA programme
