Guru Jambheshwar University Overview
Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, was founded by an act of the Haryana legislature on October 20, 1995. On November 1, 1995, it was solemnly opened. It is named after Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj, a 15th-century saint environmentalist. The university’s authority extends to the courses offered in the fields of science, technology, engineering, pharmacy, and management. Currently, the university is situated on 372 acres of lush green land with 18 Educational Departments organized into 10 Faculties to ensure both effective teaching in particular and efficient governance in general.
On campus, the university currently offers 58 regular programmes, including B.Tech., M.Tech., B.Pharma., M.Pharma, M.Sc., M.Com, M.B.A, and M.C.A., among others, with Ph.D. degree programmes in all departments.
The Directorate of Distance Education of this university was established in 1997 with four different programmes initially (BBA, MBA, PGDCA, and CIC). Since then, significant progress has been made in terms of the number of programmes offered, the number of students enrolled, and the creation of high-quality self-study materials (SLM) and so forth. Not only were new courses added, but some of the old ones were also replaced in order to make them more job-oriented and allow students to pursue them while working. Currently, 16 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are being offered, with the directorate providing distance education. For students with internet access, there is also a Computer Lab where they can get help from experts to fix their problems. The study material was created by the Directorate in collaboration with a group of experts in the various fields, and it is updated as the course curriculum changes to meet market need. Despite the reasonable fees offered for each course, students have the option of paying in half-yearly instalments, allowing students with limited financial resources to obtain an education. In the near future, the Directorate proposes to initiate a few more new job-oriented programmes.
