The Chhattisgarh legislature founded the Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University (PSSOU) in Bilaspur in the 55th year of the Republic of India. On the 20th of January, 2005, the state’s governor gave his approval, and the act was published in the Chhatisgarh Gazette (extraordinary) no. 20 Raipur on Monday, the 24th of January, 2005. Dr. T.D. Sharma became the university’s first Vice-Chancellor on March 2, 2005, while Dr. Sharad Kumar Vajpai became the Registrar on March 15, 2005. It is a public open university that offers distant learning. The university specialises in distance education programmes and accepts students for BA, B.Sc., and B.Com at the undergraduate level, as well as MBA, LLM, and M.Sc. at the graduate level.
