Founded on October 2, 1983, Mahatma Gandhi University is a prominent university in Kerala that has developed into a top-tier educational establishment serving the postsecondary education needs of Central Keralans. The university is housed on the vast 110-acre Priyadarsini Hills Campus, which is about 12 kilometers from Kottayam in Athirampuzha. It also has two satellite campuses located within Kottayam. The whole revenue districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki, as well as certain areas of Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha, are under the jurisdiction of the university. Through its 30 university departments, 1 international and inter-university center, 7 inter-university centers, 9 inter-school centers, 1 national center, 3 international centers, 79 government/aided affiliated colleges—including 10 autonomous colleges, 194 unaided affiliated colleges, and 225 recognized research centers—the institution offers a wide range of academic programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, M Phil, and doctorate levels.

Mahatma Gandhi University Overview

Mahatma Gandhi University located in Kerala, and known as MG University or MGU Kerala. It is a state-level university which is recognized by the UGC. The university is accredited with “A” Grade by the NAAC. It was founded in 1983, and is also a member of Association of Indian Universities.

The institute recently introduced five new schools, and all these schools offers PG as well as doctorate courses are offered. These courses are various courses under multiple streams, like Management, Science, Arts, Technology, Education, Business and more. Apart from these courses, the institute also provides various UG and PG courses across within its approx. 300 affiliated colleges.

There are 77 Government-aided affiliated colleges 200 unaided affiliated colleges, 10 autonomous colleges and 199 recognized research centers. Admission into all the UG and integrated programs offered at affiliated colleges is conducted through the UG Common Allotment Process and Integrated Programmes Common Allotment Process respectively. Apart from this, MG University will also conducts the entrance exam  which is known as MGU CAT, this exam offer admission into most of the courses, including MSc, MA, MTech, LLM, BBA LLB, MEd, MPES, MBA and MTTM. MGU Kerala also offers multiple UG as well as PG courses through the distance education mode through its School of Distance Education.
