Jamia Millia Islamia Institution was founded in the year 1920 at Aligarh in the United Provinces. It was moved from Aligarh to Karol Bagh, New Delhi in the year 1925.

Jamia Millia Islamia University achieved the tag of a Central University in the year 1988 under the Act of Indian Parliament. This University aims at providing education to the students irrespective of their colour, caste and creed. It has always been an Integral part of the nation which runs various schools itself and also conducts examinations for various disciples. These schools have played a major role by being continuous practice schools of Faculty of Education.

Jamia Millia Islamia Distance Education was founded in the year 2002 which is part of the original organisation Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University). This Institute was established with the cooperation of Distance Education Council for the students who wish to fulfil their dream of holding higher education degree which they were not able to access due to certain reasons. 

This Dual Mode University offers both regular and distance courses that includes diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, M. Phil, Ph. D and Certificate courses. The college has a number of seats in its distance available courses. Along with these courses an Urdu Proficiency Course has been included in the distance learning mode.

Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) Distance MBA Eligibility Criteria:-

1. Candidate must have completed 10 +2 or equivalent degree from any recognized Board/institution.
2. Candidate must have passed graduation or equivalent with a minimum 50% marks in any discipline from a recognised board. 
3. SC/ST/PWD students receive extra 5% marks along with the above eligibility criteria (according to the norms of Government of India).
4. The students are also required to qualify the university entrance test which is usually conducted in the month of August.

1. Self Learning Material:The Institute makes a lot of effort to provide self learning material to the students either in printed form or virtual form. Along with these audio visual teaching and face to face contact sessions are also provided to the students for their better understanding and upliftment. 
2. Course Development Committee:This committee has been set up to look into the development of courses keeping in the mind the requirement of the changes relating to the syllabus. It also looks into the development of the self learning material. 
3. Help desk:For the grievances and any kind of academic related trouble the students are always encouraged to contact the authorities either by mail or by calls which are usually taken into account and are solved very fast. 
4. Library:Students are provided with Wi-Fi System in the campus so that they can have easy access to online educational resources of the Institution.
