1. Common Admission Test (CAT)

Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test conducted by IIM (Indian Institute of Management) every year for selecting candidates for the admission into Post Graduate Management Programs which started since the 1950. Besides IIM CAT is a prerequisite for admission into various other renowned Business Schools across India. CAT is held once in every year usually in the month of November or December. Candidates who aspires to do the course must fill up the required form for the appearing the examination. Normally the online registration for the test starts in the month of august. The essential criteria for applying the form are given under the following points:

Eligibility

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or the equivalent CGPA. The candidates belonging to schedules Tribe (ST) and Schedule Caste (SC) community must a 45% in their graduation.
  • The degree must have been granted by any of the universities under the act of the central or state legislature of India or the institutes established by the act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and which have the recognition of the HRD ministry of India.
  • Students who are appearing for the final examination of bachelor’s degree or the equivalent courses can also apply. Those who have completed their final exams and waiting for the results are also eligible for applying. Selected students under this category will get a provisional admission into the course only after furnishing a certificate from the principal or registrar of his/her college stating that the candidate have completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.

Application Fees:-

The application fees for the students belonging to general category is rupees 1800/- and for the candidates under ST/SC categories are required to pay rupees 900/- only.

Examination Pattern:-

The CAT examination pattern undergoes specific changes every year and is unpredictable. However it is divided into three sections which consist of 100 objective type questions of 3 marks each and there is negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.  A time period of 60 minutes is given for each section. The details pattern of the examination along with the allocated marks are given in the below table.

After qualifying the exam the shortlisted candidates are required to go through a second stage of selection conducted by IIM which includes a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI). The candidates are selected according to their performance both in the entrance examination and the second stage of selection. IIMs also consider previous academic records of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs while shortlisting and ranking the candidates at various stages during the admission process.

2. XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) 2019

XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) is a national level examination conducted by XLRI (Xavier Labour Relations Institute), Jamshedpur for the admission into Post Graduate Management Programs over 150 Business Schools across the India. The entrance exam would be held in online mode and online application forms are accepted once in a year. XAT is the second largest MBA entrance examination after CAT, for candidates who pursue their career in MBA/PGDM. It is a single session examination which will be within 10 AM to 1.30 PM. The applications are invited from the candidates usually in the month of august in the official website of XAT i.e. www.xatonline.in. And the exam is normally conducted in the month of January every year.

Eligibility

  • Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized institute or university.
  • There is no percentage cutoff for applying to XAT but they should obtain pass percentage in graduation.
  • Final year Bachelor’s Degree students may also apply provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria during the time of admission.

Application Fees:-

The common application fee for the examination is 1650 INR for all the categories of candidates.

Examination Pattern:-

The XAT entrance exam is conducted in online mode. The examination consist both objective and subjective types of question and is divided into two sections.

Part I

Part one consists of 74 marks which has to be attempted within the duration of 170 minutes and 0.25 marks is deducted for any wrong answer.

Part II

Part one comprises of 25 marks multiple choice questions on general knowledge and an essay has to be written in 200 words. Duration of 40 minutes will be given to complete this part. And there will be no negative marking in this section.

Selection Process

After the completion of the entrance examination candidates are shortlisted for the next phase of selection that is the Personal Interview. Selected candidates can download Call letters for the interview from the official website. XAT also conducts group discussions among the candidates. The academic records of the students are also taken into account while preparing the result. The final list of successful candidates will also be uploaded in the XAT website.

3. MANAGEMENT APTITUDE TEST(MAT)
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level entrance test conducted to facilitate Business schools (B-schools) for screening candidates for admission to MBA and equivalent programs. MAT is administered by the All India Management Association (AIMA) since 1988, and was approved by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India as a national level test in 2003. The validity of MAT score is for 1 year and the score is considered for admission to more than 300 B-schools across India. It is conducted 4 times a year generally on February, May, September and December.

Eligibility and Age Criteria:-

  • Candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised university
  • Final year graduate students from any discipline can  also apply
  • There is no specific age limit and restrictions on the number of attempts for taking up the exam

Mode of Test:-

  • Candidates can choose to appear for any ONE test i.e. Paper Based Test (PBT) or Computer  Based Test (CBT) or BOTH tests i.e. PBT and CBT
  • Candidates appearing for both PBT and CBT will pay an extra fees of Rs. 1100/- in addition     to Rs. 1550/-
  • Candidates opting for both tests will have a benefit of selecting 2 additional management institutions along with existing options of selecting 5 institutions for sending their MAT score

Marking Scheme:-

  • A candidate scores one mark for every correct answers
  • There is negative marking of ¼ marks for each wrong answer
  • Maximum marks a candidate can score is 200 and the scaled score is given out of 800

Detailed description of each Section:-

  • Language comprehension – This section aims to judge candidates based on the comprehending and reviewing skills. It includes reading the given passages and answering the questions based on it.
  • Intelligence and Critical Reasoning – This aims to assess the candidates’ logical and analytical reasoning ability. It deals with topics like blood relations, series and sequences and visual reasoning, assertion and reasons.
  • Data Analysis and Sufficiency – This section judges the candidate based on the critical and analytical thinking. It includes direction sense, input/output analysis and quantitative comparisons.
  •  Mathematical Skills – It deals with the questions based on mathematics, arithmetic and geometry and tests the candidates’ oral calculating skills and basic concepts.
  • Indian and Global Environment – It evaluates candidates based on their knowledge about domestic and international general awareness and current affairs.

4. Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Exam 2019

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) is a national level computer-based MBA test organized by Symbiosis International University (SIU) for admission into top 15 Symbiosis Institutes in India. The candidates who aspire to take admission into Management programs in these institutes can register their names in the official website snaptest.org. The SNAP test is conducted usually in the month of December and the registration process starts from august. A candidate who is desirous to submit his candidature into the test needs to provide their choice of PG programs before completing the registration process.

Eligibility:-

  • The candidates should have completed their graduation in any discipline from statutory university with minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) for all the Master of Business Administration Program.
  • Candidates who have completed qualifying degree from any Foreign University must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • All foreign degrees/ qualifications need to be verified from AIU by the candidate before seeking admission to any programme of SIU.

Evaluation Division of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) issues equivalence certificate for foreign degrees/qualifications.

Registration Fees:-

The registration fees for the SNAP test is Rs.2065/-, which includes 1750/- for examination fees and 315/- GST charges.

The candidates can draw a demand draft from any nationalized banks for the registration.

Reservation of Seats:-

The institute offers reservation to candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and disabled candidates. 15% of the academy is also reserved for the foreign students. Two seats are reserved for Kashmiri migrants.

Examination Pattern:-

The SNAP test is an online test that consists of four sections of 100 marks. It is an objective test, each question carrying one mark. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. Candidate will get 1 mark for each correct response and 25% of mark is deducted for any wrong answer. SNAP test is conducted across 102 cities in the country. Selection Process:-

After successful completion of the SNAP, the institute prepares a merit list of shortlisted candidates based on their SNAP score. The selected candidates then go through a GE-PIWAT (Group Exercise, Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test) test. A final list of is made according to both the SNAP test and the GE-PIWAT scores. The total marks including SNAP AND GE-PIWAT is 100.  The score is divided as follows;

5. NMAT (NMIMS Management Aptitude Test)

NMAT (NMIMS Management Aptitude Test) is a national level MBA entrance test, which is conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council). The test will select candidates for admission into Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) and other 23 popular Management colleges across India. NMAT is a computer based test which is conducted for 75 days; begins in 1st week of October and ends in 3rd week of December. The registration for NMAT Exam starts in July every year. The top 5 MBA colleges of India which accepts the NMAT scores are:

Eligibility:-

There are no specific eligibility criteria for NMAT; however any graduate from a recognized institution/ university with 50% marks can apply. The eligibility for the test changes as it depends on the requirements of participating colleges. The candidates need to check the eligibility criteria of the colleges to which they are applying before registration. It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that they are eligible for the respective colleges of their choice.

Application Fees:-

The registration fees for the NMAT exam is INR 1800/- but if the candidate fails to register till the last date have to pay with late charges of 200/- i.e. INR 2000/- for registering.

Examination Pattern:-

The total marks of the NMAT is 120, each question carries 1 mark. The questions are divided into three sections; the students must complete it within 120 minutes/ 2 hours. NMAT offers one relief to the candidates as there is no system of negative marking for any wrong attempts. Along with this NMAT also gives the students three opportunities to improve their scores by retaking the test. The pattern of the exam is as follows;

The difficulty level of the NMAT test is moderate and it also gives the candidates their choice of ordering the sections during exam.

Selection Procedure:-

The NMAT, GMAC, result is released in the official website www.nmac.org.in after 4-5 weeks of conducting the exam. The candidates can view their score card online. Then the shortlisted candidates through NMAT will have to undergo other phases of selection by the concerned colleges that they want to join. These phases include Group Exercise, Personal Interview and Writing Ability Tests. According to the scores secured by candidates in all these phases a final merit list of students is prepared who are eligible to take admission.

The NMAT test gives the applicants enough scopes to improve their scores by giving the chance of attempting the exam 3 times in a session, which helps them to take admission into best colleges. The exam standard is also similar to India’s top Management entrance tests like CAT/XAT etc.

6. CMAT (Common Management Admission Test)

Conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) is a computer based test to select suitable candidates for admission in all management programs. With the approval of Ministry of Human Resource Development CMAT is held in each consecutive year nationally. The online registration for the exam starts usually in the month of October and the result is published in January. The score secured by candidates in the CMAT examination is accepted by over 1000 AICTE-Approved Management Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges in India. The following are the requirements the applicants must fulfill before they apply for the CMAT.

Eligibility:-

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • He/she must have a graduate degree from any recognized university in India. The candidates belonging to the general community must have 50% at the graduation level whereas the ST/SC applicants with 45% can apply.
  • There is no specific age limit for appearing the CMAT exam.
  • Students who have completed their graduation and are waiting for the results are also eligible to apply.

Examination Pattern:-

The total duration of CMAT exam is 3 hours or 180 minutes. The students have to answer 100 Multiple Choice Questions, each carrying four marks. There shall be negative marking for wrong answers, for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.

The national level CMAT exam will be held across 73 cities. AICTE has now decided to conduct CMAT in Foreign Countries for facilitating eligible NRIs/PIOs and foreign nationals to appear in CMAT for seeking admission in institutions in India following CMAT merit list for 2014-15 under special provisions defined in AICTE Approval Process and against all vacancies left after completion of centralized admission in management institutions.

Selection Procedure:-

After the completion of CMAT test, the candidates will have to apply for the participating institutes under CMAT according to their ranking and preference. Then the preferred participating Institute will proceed with the selection procedure of CMAT which comprises three main steps:

  1. Group Discussion (GD)
  2. Written Ability Test (WAT)
  3. Personal Interview (PI)

Candidates are shortlisted by participating institutes on the basis of their cutoffs and score/rank obtained at CMAT. The participating institutes will then prepare a list of successful candidates after evaluating their performance in both the CMAT and the GD-PI-WAT rounds.

7. TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (TISS) – NET

Tata Institute of Social Sciences conducts a National Entrance Test popularly known as TISS NET for admissions to master’s degree programs offered in TISS campuses. It offers 55 master’s in social science programs from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Chennai (Banyan) and Hyderabad campuses. TISS does not offer any MBA programs, alternatively, it offers MA courses in Human resources management and Labor relations (HRM and LR) programs at its Mumbai campus. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of TISS NET scores, after which they will go through selection procedures consisting of Pre-Interview Test / Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Eligibility and Age criteria:-

  • Candidates with bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years’ duration) or equivalent degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply
  • Candidates studying in 3 years and 4 years of bachelor’s programs should have passed all the subjects of semester 1 to semester 4 and semester 1 to semester 6 respectively
  • Candidates studying in the final year of their degree program are also eligible to apply
  • There’s no specific age limit for TISS NET exam
  • Candidates have to submit results of their final year degree exams, until which admission to any master’s degree program in the institute will be provisional. And if failed to do so, will lead to cancellation of the admission

Application Process:-

  • There are 2 modes for applying: Online and offline, as per the candidates’ convenience
  • For applying through online mode, candidates have to visit official website and fill and submit the application form along with the application fee
  • For offline application, candidates could send request by speed post along with the fee to Assistant Registrar, TISS, Deonar, Mumbai – 400088 and get a printed copy of application form
  • The application fee is Rs.1030 and the mode of payment being Net banking, Credit card and Debit card for online and Demand draft and Cash for offline

Exam Pattern and Duration:-

  • The paper consists of 100 multiple choice questions associated to subjects of Math and Logical reasoning, Social sensitivity, Analytical ability and General knowledge on contemporary issues and English proficiency
  • Duration of the test is 100 minutes i.e. 1 hour and 40 minutes
  • There is no negative marking for the answers
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for Pre-written test followed by Personal interview
  • Candidates will be given two sections to attempt for Pre-written test:
  • Section one deals with a 1000 words essay writing on a given theme related to contemporary socio-political, cultural, economic and political significance

8. Common Entrance Test (CET)

Organized by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra, Common Entrance Test (CET) is a computer based test for the admission into Management courses such as MBA and MMS. The examination selects candidates for 400 MBA colleges under the state of Maharashtra. Usually the test is conducted in the month of March, these colleges also reserves a particular number of seats for the candidates who have cleared CAT/MAT. The admission to the management courses such as MBA/MMS/PGDBM/PGDM is a centralized process and covered under Centralized Admission Process (CAP) carried out by the Competent Authority of the State of Maharashtra.

Eligibility:-

The following are the criteria set by DTE, Maharashtra for applying the MCET test.

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • He/she must have a bachelor’s degree from any recognized university with 50% marks. However the candidates belonging to the ST/SC community should have at least 45% in their graduation.
  • The applicants who are appearing the final exams of their graduation or those who are waiting for their final results are also eligible to apply.

Application Fees:-

Candidates can pay their fees in two modes Online as well as through e-Challan. The registration fees for the general category students is Rs. 1000/- and for the reserved category it is Rs. 800/-.

Examination Pattern:-

The candidates shall appear the exam for two days. The duration of the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes each day. The overall paper is divided into four sections with a total number of 200 questions. It is a multiple choice based test where the students will be given 5 choices of answer for each question. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. The structure of the MCET exam is as follows;

Examination Centers:-

The MCET is held in various cities across India. The candidates need to provide 3 preferences while filling up their form. The DTE, allocates seats according to the choice of the candidates but the centers cannot be further changed after allocation.

Result:-

After the completion of the CET, the result is declared in the official website. The candidates can view their marks online. They can also download their score card from the site. Once the result is out the students must give the preferences of colleges under the MCET, where they wanted to study. A merit list of selected candidates will be issued by every college following which the candidates can enroll themselves. Candidates who clear MAH CET 2018 will not be required to pay any fees for registration for admission. However, candidates planning to secure a seat on the basis of the scores obtained in CAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT/ XAT/ATMA need to pay the fee.

9. Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi, is an autonomous public business school which conducts its national level Management entrance test for admission into three Management colleges under IIFT situated at Delhi, Kolkata, and Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh). The test is held across 20 cities of the country usually in the month of December. The IIFT entrance test is scheduled in both online and offline mode. And the students also can apply the form both online and offline. The IIFT registration for Indian nationals remains available from July to September every year and for foreign nationals, the registration will be available until February.

Eligibility:-

The necessary eligibility to be fulfilled by candidates for applying the IIFT test is as follows;

  • Candidate with a graduation degree from a recognized university with 50% marks.
  • Candidate appearing in final examination of their graduation can also apply.
  • There is no particular age limit for candidates.

Application Fees:-

Online: The application fees could be paid online through debit/ credit or net banking. IIFT Application fee is Rs. 1550 for the general category candidates while for SC/ST and Physically handicapped candidate it is Rs. 775.

The IIFT selects successful candidates according to the score obtained by them in the entrance examination.  But the final result is published only after the completion of other stages of selection like Group Discussion (GD), Writing Skill Assessment and Personal Interview. The final list of shortlisted candidate is made available in the official website of IIFT i.e. www.iift.ac.in.

10. MICA ADMISSION TEST

The MICA Admission Test, popularly known as MICAT is a MBA entrance exam for the admissions to its 2 years Post Graduation Diploma in Management – Communication (PGDM-C) course.  MICAT is conducted by MICA, Ahmedabad and aims to train students with a focus on innovative thinking, consumer and community outreach and client centricity. The PGDM-C course, has emerged to be one of the premier programs in the country, which corresponds to other MBA programs. It has a 100% campus placement record with the best corporate houses in India and abroad. Since 1995, this program is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Association of Indian University and MICA is considered to be one of the top B-schools and MBA colleges in India.

Eligibility and Age Criteria:-

  • Candidates with bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years’ duration) or equivalent degree from a recognized university or by the Association of Indian Universities are eligible to apply
  • Candidates must also have valid scores of at least one of the national entrance exams, namely CAT, XAT or GMAT
  • Candidates studying in the final year of their degree program are also eligible to apply
  • Foreign national students and NRI students can also apply with a GMAT scores of 600 and above
  • There is no specific age limit for MICAT exam

  • MICAT exam is conducted twice a year i.e. December and February
  • Candidates need to apply separately for MICAT I and MICAT II and the better of two scores will be considered for admissions

  • There is no negative marking for section 1 and 3, section 2 has a negative scoring of 0.25 % or ¼ of the total marks allotted

Selection procedure:-

  • Psychometric test is considered to be a test qualifier which means a candidate has to pass this section to have a chance for making it to GE and PI
  • Next the candidates will be assessed for DCR, GA, VA, QA and on the basis of comparative performance they will be evaluated for DT
  • Those candidates qualifying DT will be considered for shortlisting for GE and PI
  • GE and PI are scored on a scale of 5 and candidates should score a minimum of 3.5 and 4 respectively

11. MAHARASHTRA COMMON ENTRANCE TEST

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH – CET) is a state level entrance examination conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, for admissions to various management courses such as MBA/MMS in different institutes in the state of Maharashtra. Officially it is known as MAH-MBA / MMS-CET exam. It is held once in a year, generally in the month of February or March. On the basis of the MAH-CET results, qualified candidates have to follow the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for admissions to various programs under affiliated institutions or universities.

Eligibility and Age Criteria:-

  • Aspirants with bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years’ duration) or equivalent degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply
  • Aspirants studying in the final year of their degree program are also eligible to apply
  • General category aspirants must have a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA and reserved category aspirants must have a minimum of 45% marks in their undergraduate degree
  • There is no specific age limit for MAH-CET

Application Process:-

  • MAH-CET can only be applied through online process, DTE, Maharashtra rejects the application if it is submitted by courier or post
  • Aspirants are allowed to fill only one application form, multiple applications will be rejected
  • Application fees for general category is Rs.1000 and for reserved category is Rs.800 and the mode of payment for the fees is online through credit card / debit card or net banking

Exam Pattern and Duration:-

  • MAH-CET is an online Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • The exam consists of multiple choice type objective questions only
  • It includes 200 multiple choice questions from four different subjects of Logical reasoning, Abstract reasoning, Quantitative aptitude and Verbal ability / Reading comprehension
  • The duration to complete the test is 150 minutes or 2 hours and 30 minutes
  • According to the marking scheme, there is one mark for every correct answer and no negative marking for the wrong answers

12. ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test

ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test (IBSAT) is an online management aptitude test administered by the ICFAI Foundation of Higher Education for admissions to MBA and Post Graduate programs in Management (PGPM) courses. The test scores are used for the admissions to nine ICFAI Business School (IBS) campuses – Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Bangalore, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. It is conducted on multiple days in a single month (December).

Eligibility and Age Criteria:-

  • Candidates with bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years’ duration) or equivalent degree from a recognized university / institution with at least 50% aggregate marks and above
  • Candidates will have to submit TOEFL, NELT or IELTS scores if the eligibility criteria of English medium in graduation is not fulfilled
  • Applicants should have completed a minimum of 15 years of regular education (on 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 basis)
  • Applicants studying in the final year of their degree program are also eligible to apply provided they complete their graduation requirements
  • There is no age limit for IBSAT

  • There are 2 modes for applying: Online and offline, as per the candidates’ convenience

  • Reading comprehension – This section deals with the candidates’ comprehending and reviewing skills. There are 3 comprehension passages from which questions are asked
  • Data adequacy/sufficiency and Data interpretation – It includes questions from figure, diagrams, data interpretation, logical reasoning, diagrams, statement and conclusions, etc.
