NEET UG Result 2021: SC orders NTA to release result soon
NEET UG Result 2021: The Supreme Court on Thursday (28th October, 2021) orders the National Testing Agency (NTA) to release the result of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate level (UG) medical programs across the country.
A bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao, Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai stayed the recent order of the Bombay High Court directing NTA not to declare NEET results and to conduct re-examination for two candidates. As test booklet and OMR sheets of both the students got mixed together at an examination center in Maharashtra, before the commencement of the examination.
The bench, after taking note of the submissions of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for NTA, said, “We stay the high court judgment. The National Testing Agency can announce the results,”
The Supreme Court had ordered that both the students should get an opportunity to take the examination afresh.
“We will decide what happens to the two students upon reopening (after Diwali vacation). In the meanwhile, we issue notice and file a counter. But we cannot hold the results of 16 lakh students,” In an unprecedented judgment on 20th October, 2021, the Bombay High Court had ordered the NTA to conduct fresh examinations for those two candidates and declare their results along with the main results of the NEET Exam conducted on 12th September, 2021.
