JEE Toppers’ Advice: Ishan Khandelwal adds that seeing so many of his cousins work as software engineers sparked his interest in the field.

JEE Toppers’ Tips: Ishan Khandelwal is completely focused on passing JEE Advanced 2023 after achieving a 100 percentile in the JEE Main 2023. Khandelwal, the son of a homemaker and a head of a public school, is very interested in math and computer science.

I have a very deep interest in Mathematics and Computer Science and therefore I want to pursue either Mathematics and Computing at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore or the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. I also wish to study Computer Science Engineering and if I get a good rank, I would choose IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi.

What makes you want to study engineering?

My cousins are mostly programmers. I learned about this field from them, as well as the reasons why IITs are the greatest varsity for pursuing higher education. I’ve always been interested in maths and wanted to study it in my higher education.

My study plan

For my preparation, I joined Allen in Jaipur. I formerly resided in Dausa, which was 50 kilometres away from my home. I moved to Jaipur with my parents to prepare for my exams. I’m right now getting ready for the JEE Advanced. I study for around 12 hours a day, starting around 7 a.m. I finish my daily routine after waking up and begin studying at 8 am. When I start studying varies. We don’t have our regular coaching sessions because the course is finished. I go to bed by 2:30 a.m.

How do I revise?

I practise every day to ensure that I am always sharp. I’ve completed Allen modules and questions from past years. NCERT is essential.

Books I referred to

I studied Irodov for physics, MS Chouhan for organic chemistry, Narendra Awasthi for physical chemistry, and Vikas Gupta for mathematics in addition to NCERT and coaching modules.

My advice for incoming students

NCERT is essential. Pay close attention to your weak areas and approach the paper with a cool, collected head.
