Sections of the Exam and their Weightage:
There are two main sections in the GATE exam: General Aptitude and the applicant’s selected branch or core subject. There will be 65 questions in the question paper where 10 questions from General Aptitude.
As per the GATE Exam 2023 latest exam pattern AG, AE, BM, CE, BT, CS, EC, CH, IN, ME, EE, MN, PE, PI, MT, TF, XE, and ST papers, the weightage of marks will be divided into three sections.
- Engineering Mathematics will carry around 13% of marks i.e. 13 marks
- The General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks i.e. 15 marks
- The remaining 72% of total marks will be based on the paper’s subject i.e. 72 marks
Section B, Which is based on the applicant’s selected branch or core subject will contain the questions from the subject in the form of Multiple Choice Questions and Numerical Answer type questions.
It is a computer-based exam which will be conducted for 29 streams in various exam centers all over the country. The exam duration will be three hours

Preparation Hacks for the General Aptitude:
In the GATE exam 2023 there are four major sections. All the questions in this section are designed to test different aspects of the applicant’s knowledge apart from the course related knowledge.
