GATE 2023: 7 international exams centers withdraw from conducting exams

In response to some operational issues, some international centers have withdrawn from conducting the GATE 2023 exams, according to the report of The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-Kanpur). A candidate can check the official website for more information about examinations and notifications.

The international centers are located in Dhaka (Bangladesh), Kathmandu (Nepal), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Male (Maldives), Port Louis (Mauritius), Singapore (Singapore), and Thimpu (Bhutan).

Candidates can view the GATE 2023 official notification by following the instructions outlined below.

Important Notice To International Students

It has been officially announced that the GATE 2023 test will not be conducted in Dubai (UAE) on February 5 and 12, 2023. The BM, CY, EC, EE, ES, and XH papers were to be conducted on February 5, and CE1, CE2, MN, and ST papers were to be conducted on February 12.

Candidates who enrolled for the GATE exam in the aforementioned cities have the option to withdraw their application and receive a full refund of their application costs. Otherwise, they can choose one of the cities in India and receive a refund for their registration expenses. They will, however, have to pay the fees for the papers for which they appear.

These international candidates have two possibilities at IIT Kanpur:

  • Option 1: Candidates may opt out of the GATE 2023 examination and obtain a full refund of their application expenses.
  • Option 2: Candidates may take the test at one of the conducting cities in India. Candidates will also receive a full refund of their initial payments, but in order to take the examination, they must pay the following paper fees:

All Indian nationals in the SC, ST, PwD, and female categories must pay INR 850, while others, including international nationals, must pay INR 1,700. To use Option B, candidates must first log in to their account on the official website, gate.iitk.ac.in. They must send their decision to gate@iitk.ac.in by December 5, 2022, along with their enrolment id and name.

GATE 2023 Exam Dates

The GATE 2023 exam will be administered online by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur on February 4, 5, 11, and 12, 2023.

The first shift will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while the second shift will run from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2023

The general eligibility criteria of GATE exam is given below:

  • Applicants must have to completed or should have currently studying in the third year of UG degree in the field of Architecture/ Engineering/ Arts/ Commerce or Science can apply in this exam
  • There is no upper age limit criteria to apply in the GATE exam 2023.

Exam Pattern of GATE 2023

There are no changes have been made in the GATE 2023 Exam Pattern, except the Architecture and Planning exam pattern this year.

  • GATE exam 2011 will be held through online mode and it is a computer-based entrance test
  • The duration of the exam will be 3 hours and the total weightage of 100 marks.
  • The two new papers will be added in the GATE 2023 exam pattern- i.e. Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering
  • GATE 2023 exam, Question Paper will consist 65 questions- where 10 questions from the General Aptitude section while 55 questions in the Core Discipline section.
  • For each correct answer there will be awarded 1 or 2 marks will be awarded depending on the type of question. While for each incorrect answer there will lead to a deduction in marks.

1 mark will be awarded for MCQs: while ⅓ mark will be deducted for every wrong answer

2 marks will be awarded for MCQs: while ⅔ mark will be deducted for the every wrong answer
