BHU Has Launched An International Visiting Student Program For Ph.D. Students

This program provides research scholars at the university with the chance to conduct their research for a semester in prestigious international institutions located outside of India.

BHU has introduced the “International Visiting Student Program” initiative, enabling university research scholars to conduct research activities for a semester in distinguished overseas institutions.

The initiative involves selecting research scholars who will spend approximately six months (or one semester) at world-renowned institutions ranked within the top 500 in either THE or QS rankings. The main objectives of the scheme are to encourage networking, promote collaborative research, enhance institutional connections, and improve practical, theoretical, and professional proficiencies.

To be eligible for the program, research scholars must have a CGPA of 8.0 or above after completing their coursework, as well as have published at least two papers in a highly-regarded international journal within their field of study. Additionally, the scholar will need to obtain permission from the host institution to receive the essential resources to continue their research.

In addition to conducting research abroad, participating research scholars will receive a consolidated monthly fellowship of $1800 throughout their semester overseas. They will also receive round-trip economy-class airfare, visa fees, and health insurance (if deemed necessary). The program will also cover travel expenses of approximately $600 within the host country for the scholar to attend conferences or visit other institutions of relevance.

Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain, BHU’s VC, believes that this program will enable exceptional Ph.D. scholars from BHU to work at prominent research universities or laboratories abroad, granting them the opportunity to engage in international competition. This program has been designed in line with the National Education Policy of 2020.
