There are 4 key elements in learning, be it online or classroom- Attitude, Knowledge, Habits and Skills. In addition to classroom learning, online learning has been very popular during a couple of years. And during the COVID-19 period in the last six months, online learning has become the most convenient solution for students and educational institutions.

The objective of Online & Classroom learning is the same but there are notable differences between them. Below are the key differences between Online & Classroom learning:

1. One-way communication vs. Two-way communication

In the Classroom setup, teachers establish two-way communication with the pupils since they both are present physically in a classroom.

Whereas, online learning method is in its very initial stage.

3. Cost vs. effectiveness

As comparing Classroom learning with Online learning, online learning is more cost-effective.

Whereas, for young children, classroom learning is more effective instead of cost-effectiveness in the long run.

4. Customized learning

The environment of the lass can be customized by simple techniques such as teacher can observe the behavior, can make eye contact, observing the reaction of a child on a topic or a particular activity. These techniques can easily be conducted in the online class.

5. The difference in target learners and usage of learning

For those, who are frequent travelers, working professionals, or those who cannot afford a fixed time for learning daily, online learning platforms provide them the facility to learn anytime when they want. Whereas classroom learning provides a suitable environment for target learners such as students, children due to the factors like learning environment, peer learning, query resolution at their own pace etc which is essential for the development and growth of a child and youth.

6. Impact on the overall development

Knowledge, attitude, skills, and habits are the key elements for the overall development and impact of learning. If a person just wants to gain knowledge about a specific subject or field, an online learning platform is suitable and effective. However if the purpose is to inculcate learning and knowledge in the form of skills, attitude and habits in day-to-day life, then offline learning classes is a better choice.

Nowadays especially during the Covid situation, online learning and the use of technology in learning has massively increased. However, learning is not just about gaining knowledge, it also consists of many other factors which are extremely necessary of the personal growth and development of humans.

So when it comes to comparisons, nobody can decide with just a single factor of online learning and use of technology. So for comparing online learning platform and offline regular classes, one need to decide on the basis of each factor, as other factors cannot be neglected.
